Samsung teases incredibly-thin Galaxy Z Fold 7 as its ‘lightest’ foldable yet [Video]

Samsung just dropped another Galaxy Z Fold 7 teaser, this time calling the foldable its “thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet,” which certainly seems true if its teaser image is anything to go by.

Following a truly bizarre “Ultra experience” teaser earlier this month – which doesn’t even seem to have anything to do with the branding – Samsung has released a second teaser for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 which hints at the thin profile of the foldable.

Samsung calls this upcoming device its “thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet.” No actual numbers are given, nor does Samsung make any claims in regards to the competition, but a brief video shows what looks to be an incredibly-thin profile for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and then it opens up.

It’s no secret that Samsung has been well behind the competition in terms of making its foldables thinner. Last year, even the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold was considerably thinner compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Oppo ran away with the competition with the later release of the Find N5.

Samsung is expected to release Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a design that’s roughly 9mm thick when closed, rivaling the thinnest foldables in the world, while being just 4.54mm when opened up. There will obviously be a camera bump, but it’s still drastic progress from the 12.1mm profile of the Fold 6.

Weight is another area Samsung’s foldables have fallen behind, so it’s nice to see the company claiming improvements.

But smartphones are constant companions that we tuck into our pockets, use with one hand and take everywhere we go. So it’s only natural that users desire a foldable device that is as easy to carry as it is to use. To that end, Samsung engineers and designers are refining each generation of the Galaxy Z series to be thinner, lighter and more durable than the last.

This year, that journey reaches a new milestone. The newest Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet – meticulously crafted and built to last.

This new foldable is expected to launch alongside Flip 7, Watch 8, and other devices in roughly a month.
